With and Without

Well, I have learned that being "with child" (such a hokey saying) has left me without energy. Seriously, I am pooped! The Hubby is at an employee and spouse dinner at this really awesome restaurant that we ordinarily would not go to because of costs AND yesterday I realized I could not go. What was more important you ask... NOTHING! I had a 5:30 Service League meeting followed by a 6:15 Charity Ball meeting and now I am at home eating leftover spaghetti. As I was driving home from my last meeting, feeling sick because I was so hungry, I realized that while I would have loved to eat a great meal, I am glad to be going home to get a bath and lay on the couch. Is this why pregnant women gain so much weight because they'd rather lay around than do anything else? Oh wait, I know why... because they are really cold and no matter how bad they feel they are determined to take a hot bath before doing anything else. So, they bring a bag of sour cream and onion potato chips with them to the bath tub! LOL I was really cold and really hungry and cold trumped hunger. I just needed the chips to hold me over for a few minutes until I could warm up myself and the leftovers.

Here's the deal. I am coming out of the closet to explain my lack of energy. You have all seen my house at one point or another and know the sickness I have of keeping it clean. I'm not sure when I developed this illness, but I think it was living in my 1st apartment in Athens. You know there is something absolutely fantastic about living on your own... you clean and things stay just where you left them! It really is magical. Anyway, the Hubby has been rockstar fantastic about pulling his weight plus some around the house these past few weeks. However, as the days go on I am falling down on the job. I have no idea why, but I'm about to give you a little glimpse into my clean little home... well, the home that was once clean...

Dirty Dishes... this DOES NOT happen at my house! You may ask if I have a dishwasher or if it is broken. Yes I have a dishwasher, a great dishwasher that is working just fine. I turned on the dishwasher Sunday night and on Monday after dinner there were still clean dishes in it. I decided it would be easier to hand wash the dinner dishes and unload the dishwasher later. Then I had a great idea to let them "soak for a while". 24 hours later they are still soaking and now I think the water is gross. So, I still have a full dishwasher, dirty dishes in the sink and I wasted a sink-full of over-priced lavender environmentally friendly dish washing soap.

What happens when you leave clean laundry in the dryer? Your husband takes it out to put something else in and leaves it on the chair. And what happens when you leave it on the chair? Patty Cakes makes it her bed. She is so stinkin cute that the clothes are still in the chair, but they will have to go soon. Wasting water to re-wash a load of clean clothes covered in cat hair.
What, my friends, do I want for my 30th birthday? A maid. Not necessarily full time, but just to get me back where I started. So, I'm now off to wash the dishes, really I am, or maybe stop by the couch and watch American Idol.

  1. You are tired because your body is growing an entire human being in just 10 weeks! Don't worry you will get some energy in the 2nd Trimester and the nesting will set in by the 3rd. Your house will be so clean you will be able to eat off the floor.

  2. Congrats! I didn't know! I would love to help you in any way that I can. AND use pregnancy for every excuse that you can (eating, not exercising, sleeping, lack of cleaning, etc. etc.) It only last for nine months. I can't wait to find out what you are having! That is so much fun. Take care!

  3. I think that you should add a follower thing here so I can be updated on all your lil' posts. I'm so happy you have dishes in your sink. I can't wait to hang out again so I will not feel like I am polluting your house with my sloppy presence.
