Hotter Than a Cuss Word!

How is your summer?

I am definitely from the south and I NEVER complain about hot weather. I HATE winter. I am miserable about every single second of it. I have never wished the summer away. Then came 2010.

This space age heat has to go. Have you ever been this hot in your life? We love to be outside and at the beginning of the summer we were strolling to the ice cream shop and swimming. I am wearing a precious white sundress today and I just looked down at my legs. They blend in with my dress and look like winter time! You know why? It is too hot to go outside and get sun on them! We went swimming yesterday for the first time in a few weeks and it was like bath water. I feel so sorry for all of you outside workers. I would personally bring everyone of you a bottle of water if I could.

In all of this complaining we have really had a great summer. Multiple beach vacations, road trips to see friends, flower festivals, fun toys in air-conditioning and wonderful veggies from the Comerford's garden. We are about to start gearing up for the big birthday month!! An ice cream party is in the works.

We truly are blessed, but a little rain and lower temperatures could make me run around the front yard like a Pentecostal praising the Lord! :)

St George Island

The week after July 4th Nana and Pa took all the Comerford's to St George Island. It was our first trip there and it was wonderful! There is not a lot to do on the island and that makes it wonderful. No crowds and no traffic = happy girl! And the coolest thing is that there are seashells everywhere. Big ones! It was really neat.
Once again Amelia did not like the beach. She tolerated it for a few days, but she would rather float in the pool or play in the water hose. But seriously, if you couldn't walk and just had to sit there with sand going up your swim diaper, would you like the beach? Probably not! We will try again next summer.
We relaxed, ate A LOT, put together puzzles, watched movies and had coffee on the deck overlooking the ocean. It was a great week!

Happy Birthday America

Thank you to all who have and who continue to serve our country so that we may be free today. Today at our dinner table we prayed for all of you. We thanked you for your service, that you take time away from your families so that we may be with ours. We prayed that you all get home safe and that you get home soon. Bless you all!

Amelia was not a fan of the fireworks and kept a close watch on the sparklers

Our town square has been beautiful this week. Makes you proud to be an American, doesn't it?

We have had such a fun 4th of July weekend. Friday night we walked down to the square for some pizza, ice cream and a concert. We saw a lot of sweet friends and we also were able to have a quiet dinner while Amelia slept in her stroller. Score one for Team Comerford!

Saturday morning was the Sweet Land of Liberty Parade. It's for kids only and so much fun. They have to help with the floats and decoration and it is just adorable. The theme was America through the years. Our group brought out the 70's with a little Peace, Love and USA. Tuesday night we all met to tie-dye t-shirts and Saturday morning we were all decked out. Amelia and her friend, Molly, rode in a wagon surrounded by the cutest tie dyed kids you've ever seen. We can't wait until next year!

Ready for the parade

Amelia showing off her shirt. This was the smallest t-shirt they had so Katy and I made them into dresses for the girls. They will be able to wear them for years! Ha!

Saturday night we had a post parade dinner with some great friends. We grilled out and shot of fireworks for the children. I never could imagine how much fun it is to watch the excitement on their faces.

This morning I called Mom and we discovered neither of us had plans. I also discovered that they had steaks marinating. So, they packed up their supper and brought it to our house. It was like a little last minute surprise. We had a great day together. We relaxed, cooked, played outside, laughed and mainly played with the little girl (because we all know that's why they really came!) I love my family!

I hope your 4th of July was as fantastic as mine!

The Things that Keep you Going

And when you think the week can't get any worse.... You are tired, you ache, you are just absolutely spent. The Good Lord gives you a reminder of what it's all for. Somehow the Mommy magic kicks in and you completely forget about the horrible, bad week you have had.

This is what I found when I went to check on Amelia before going to bed. She's had a hard week. Sweet thing just crashed in her bed.

Teething is TERRIBLE

I have been a horrible mother this week (and wife too for that matter). Amelia is trying to cut 2 more bottom teeth. She has screamed, whined or fussed for the majority of the week. Seriously, there has been much more bad than good this week. The Lord was so gracious to bless me with an amazingly wonderful infant. He knows I can only handle so much. Perhaps He has moved the notch on my tolerance knob? It's not working. You know that saying "If Mama ain't happy, nobody ain't happy"? Well, that person does not have children because in our house if baby ain't happy, nobody ain't happy. Amelia yells at me, I am short with Ben, he turns the tv up, I go to bed. It's terrible.

Sunday she was playing with me and accidentally scratched my gum with her military grade finger nails. The scratch has now turned into an ulcer and I can hardly eat or talk. I am not a happy camper and I'm not trying to hide it.

So, Amelia, guess what sweetie? I feel your pain, literally. But guess what else, if Mommy can't get away with whining and screaming all afternoon and evening then neither can you.

I did get to have wine tonight which Amelia can not so I suppose we are almost even... almost... not quite... not even close.

And Molly Brown just threw up on the floor. Just right now. Awesome. Maybe I can leave it there and act like it happened after I went to bed? That would be awfully mean since my husband has been sweet enough not to pick up and walk out on us this week.

Off to clean up the floor... Tomorrow is Friday right? Hopefully the weekend will start a new trend.

By the way, I have been putting Amelia's Orajel on my gum. That stuff only works for about 10 minutes.
